ELCOMAT® vario N - Measurement of straightness – precise and fast

Electronic autocollimators are widely used in mechanical engineering to measure the straightness/parallelism of machine beds, to measure the pitch and yaw movements of machine axes and to determine the positional uncertainty of rotary and dividing tables. The new ELCOMAT® vario N series of electronic autocollimators from Möller-Wedel Optical GmbH is the further development of the ELCOMAT® vario D series, which has proven itself worldwide. There are eight different models available, which differ in terms of measuring range and measuring uncertainty. This allows the potential user to choose the most suitable instrument for his task. The ELCOMAT® vario N consists of a sensor head and an intelligent display module. Thus the autocollimator can be operated independently of a PC/laptop.

The new hardware and software concept allows direct digital signal processing in the sensor head with a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, the sensor head has been made significantly more compact, so that the overall length of the individual models is shorter that of their predecessors. With the additional alignment aid integrated in the measuring instrument, the autocollimator can be adjusted easily, quickly and precisely. In addition, straightness can be measured on-the-fly with the integrated software. This saves valuable time when scraping guideways.
